Reasons Why Blogging Is Better Than The Sinister Facebook Number 129,234,911

There are several people who are my “blogroll buddies” who I have also befriended on the sinister Facebook: home of sheep-throwing, scrabble rip-offs, poking, stalking and the destruction of nature.
It would appear that Patroclus, Annie Slaminsky and myself are seemingly unaware of the correct etiquette of Facebook profile pictures, opting instead for the type of profile picture common on blogs (if an actual photo is used for an avatar) with our faces somewhat obscured.
Aren’t we enigmatic? And as a direct result, cool? (natch)
(Mr. Blue Cat uses a more traditional Facebook picture but then he is a celebrity and is therefore absolved)

I am very bad in that case - my f*ckbook avatar is my munterspace pic - my boobs in a tight t-shirt! Olive is just for Blogger.

Shudder. Facebook is something from a galaxy far, far away, and frightens me. I wouldn’t bother with etiquette - if you don’t want to publish a mug shot of yourself, why bother? Being enigmatic is always tops.

Facebook serves a purpose that I can never appreciate. I have so little desire to stay in touch with people, I like my privacy and communicate with the world on my own terms.
I believe the medical profession have a term for it……..

I find Facebook by turns repulsive and vaguely useful. Which I suppose makes it a repulsive thing that’s vaguely useful, like a toilet brush, or a catheter.

Ro-Mo - I think that is enigmatic. Just in a different way.
Betty - It’s a scary place. I try not to go there too often.
Rosie - I wish I knew.
Ill Man - It is satisfying ignoring people on there.
Patroclus - It’s like one of those binliners that are really hard to open.

When I joined Facebook for a week last summer I used a picture of a headstone.
perhaps that’s why I didn’t make too many “friends”…

I go for abstract rather than enegmatic on my main website. On Facebook, I change my profile picture as often as I can - it’s amazing how many people this upsets. I get complaining messages and everything.

Spinny - I think you were going about it just the right way.
Fat Roland - Hello! I would change my picture some often, but it is a hassle.
